INNOVATIONS WAIVER SERVICES (formerly known as CAP Services)

NC Innovations is a Medicaid waiver program for individuals with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities. This waiver offers an array of services and support options designed to assist individuals of all ages to remain in their community and to live as independently as possible. The NC Innovations Waiver enables individuals and their families to play an essential role in deciding how to plan, obtain, and sustain community-based services. These services are designed to promote inclusion and active membership in the community.

Evaluation and Diagnosis

CAH, Inc. has a team of experienced psychiatrists, psychologists, physician assistants, and therapists, who use their specialized skills to evaluate the needs of each individual. Once a diagnosis is determined, the individual can be placed in the service(s) that will best address their needs.

Therapy

CAH, Inc. offers services to individuals, families, and groups to address and treat mental and emotional disorders and to promote mental health. A variety of therapeutic techniques are used to address issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, trauma, and low self-esteem.

Our outpatient mental health team specializes in the following areas:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Sexual/Physical Abuse – Adults and Children
  • Children’s Play Therapy
  • ADHD
  • Parenting Skills
  • School Problems
  • Dual Diagnosis

Medication Management

Medications are often used to help people with psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and thought disorders such as schizophrenia. The prescribing clinician from CAH, Inc. will meet with the individual prescribed the medications on a scheduled basis, and will review the effects of the medication treatment and help them manage side effects, medication or dosage changes that may be necessary. Most individuals will receive a written prescription during their visit to the outpatient office to be filled at the pharmacy of their choice.

Outpatient Mental Health Services

Outpatient mental health services at Community Alternative Housing, Inc. (CAH, Inc.) includes the provision of the evaluation and diagnosis of mental illnesses, therapy (individual and group), and medication management.
